LisaCampbell MEDIA defines Marketing - \ˈmär-kə-tiŋ\ as the process through which goods, services and IDEAS move from concept to customer. It is the activity of creation, communication + understanding, and an exchange of ideas that results in value for customers, clients, partners and society. It is our methodology of promoting, selling, and distributing your project, product, or service.
Marketing has traditionally counted on two MO’s. Either invest big bucks to pay your way into a customer’s consciousness with high priced campaigns (advertising) or efforts to plead your way in (traditional PR) with press releases sent to producers and reporters like I once was, and waiting for them to deem your message worthy of making its way onto ‘air.’
That was the old skool way, and the rules of marketing have forever changed. Customers are now getting their own information about you and your product, using the Internet and sites like Google, Yahoo, blogs, facebook, twitter, social networks and company websites.
As the rules 'continue to' change – so must your processes to reach your market. Companies must now create their own ‘medias’ and become publishers themselves, share compelling IDEAS and create useful online content that customers can use.
